Reigning from Chicago, and the surrounding suburbs, Altgeld Forgotten is made up of former members of Orefisaurus, Last Alliance, The Hell Mutts, and Wrecked 'Em. (50% of those bands played more than one show. 25% of those bands never played a show, but if they had, it would have blown your collective minds. Seriously.) After looking for a drummer for months, Lou (a short, fat version of Jack Black) and Crazy Jon (a jazz guitar genius with a penchant for grooming his facial hair differently every time you see him) finally said, "Fuck it," and told Steve (a dodgeball player) to figure out how to drum. They then rounded out the lineup by enlisting Luke (a walking Led Zeppelin Encyclopedia) to replace Steve as the second guitarist/vocalist.
After their first show at Liar's Club on June 1, the band set their sights on getting better, recording a new demo, and playing as many shows as possible. They've come a long way since they started playing together in March '06, and they continue to come. Inevitably, they will do the only thing they know how to do, write and play music as honestly as possible, avoiding pretension, and trying to dispel the myth that all bands from the suburbs sound like Fall Out Boy. Fall Out Boy sucks.
